Well I must admit I was sceptical about how easy it was to remove a bus engine, but having done it today for the first time in 45 mins without rushing I'm pleased.
Now to fix all those oil leaks, fit new alternator , service, new fuel lines, paint the tins and refit.
See if I can make it to Dubfreeze2 on Sunday!🔧🔨

  2. So, another 45 mins then?

  3. spent 2 afternoons getting the top tin off, all screws siezed. engine is coming out this weekend!

  4. Would have been easier dropping it, then tackling the tinware... C:)

    Congrats ....Flakey

  5. New clutch while its out ?

I removed the rear tinware to give me plenty of room to manoeuvre the engine because looking from the back, top left was a bolt, top right is bolt which goes through starter and you undo by feel behind fan housing, but bottom two are studs which stayed in engine so had to pull engine back quite a long way to clear, is this normal? I thought I'd replace with bolts to make it easier next time!
Clutch was replaced not too many miles ago apparently, I've got the bill, and it seemed fine!

Studs at the bottom is standard. If you replace with bolts you'll struggle to get long enough ones in, have little to line the engine/gearbox up with when refitting the engine and risk cross-threading and stripping the threads in the block. :)

    That makes sense, cheers Zed.
