Engine cutting out when reverse selected

  1. Not had a chance to look underneath yet as got an appointment (typically) but any ideas why this is happening?

    You'll have fitted your reversing light cable to the wrong side of the coil.

    I had this once. I had wired the coil incorrectly.

  8. I did this on my first Beetle as well. Easily done in a hurry.

    Its cheaper than crossing the beams with a Pertronix.

  10. Stood in the corner and reflected on my poor performance, switched the lead, started and reversed. Thanks guys
