Right, we have got all of the bolts on Gusbus engine nice and tight all bar one.

We are really struggling with the top left bolt (opposite side to the starter motor); all of the others are sorted but this. How the heck do you ge in to tighten it on the engine side - we can get the bolt in and through but cant see how you contort to put a nut on.

How do you guys do it, is there a secret way of doing it up or is the engine threaded?

    K+ for the best answer!

  2. Well if it's the same one it went a bit like this:-

Ray: hey maggie (Rays Wife), can I borrow you?
    Maggie: oh no not again!

At this point Ray was underneath and maggie had to reach round the back of the fan housing with nut and spanner in her hand, using only her sense of feel to get the nut on then hold spanner on nut whilst ray tightened it up!

    Ray: thanks mags
Maggie: no worries, anyone for a cuppa

What a star, apparently I would never have managed it as my arm is too fat and Maggie does it every time for Ray, and although she had quite a skinny arm she still managed to scrape her skin!

Sorry this isn't much help as you have already realised you need to be a contortionist, failing that you need someone with a skinny arm who's good at feeling their way around!

If there's a better way than this it would be handy to know!

    Robo...

If its a type 1 engine then its threaded, it screws in

  6. Isn't that top right threaded?

  14. Bottoms are studs with nuts, starter is a d-bolt, opposite side iis bolt that screws into threaded hole in engine case from the gearbox side (behind clutch arm).
