Does anyone have a template or size diagram of the wood panels found in the engine bay?? Trying to make my life easier when l go to make replacements for a customers bus. In fact I'm just being lazy so l don't have to take measurements :)

    Cheers.

Yes that's it. Not so worried about the sound deadening as I have that sorted but was thinking about making a new hardboard cover as originally there for the bus.

Older buses have nice steel versions - I'd try and get some second hand ones - they're very good and the hardboard penny pinching versions are floppy rubbish. You can see them here:

  9. yeah mines steel ...

  10. type 4 engined busses with a hatch are different , copy the board ones on to a sheet of aluminium much better

  11. As Birdy is asking the question for our engine - anyone able to advise what their purpose was / is?

If it's going to have to be cut out of metal I want to know if it's worth the money?!

    Thanks...

  12. It just holds the insulation in place thats all

  13. Thanks - quick answer Paradox!!

Stu - I leave it to your discretion - if we need it we need it - if it's just going to look pretty then maybe it can go on the list for a later date...

  14. Id rather have a steel one than an oil soaked fiberboard one as its one less thing to combust

  15. We took our orignial ones out the other day and put them on the garden fire, Minen Gotten (german for oh dear me, i think) the fire wouldn't of combusted any quicker if i had just poured petrol on it.

Thankfully i took it out before the dreaded engine fire, because it was such a shock we are not replacing ours. My train of thought is one last thing to add to a fire

  16. Indeed - that was what kept smouldering in our engine fire - very combustible!!

  17. wood ? do you mean these metal things ?
