Can I ask if I may, what people are paying per month for their 4 bed House? Gas & Electric together. tia Sent from my SM-A510F using Tapatalk
It was 91...now they want 152. We've changed recently changed again as it was 181. I dunno what's right any more. 4 bed, nothing overly used. I'm out mostly. Just elderly mum and Autistic brother. Sent from my SM-A510F using Tapatalk
I pay £130 for three bed terrace. Draftier than you can imagine. Family home all day, thermostat set to 18,5 degrees, energy saving bulbs, limited electrical gimmickry, combi boiler.
Hmmm.... maybe I'm moaning about nothing. 4 bed semi with big extension, energy bulbs etc. More expensive each year. #poo Sent from my SM-A510F using Tapatalk

Try moneysavingexpert.com . I was locked in to a three year deal but I got a cheaper deal from bulb energy and they paid my exit fees from my previous supplier! (£60) Now paying £74.50 a month for a 3 bed semi. Best thing is they have no exit fees, so if the price goes up, you can just leave!
Use Money Saving Experts 'Energy club' enter all your details once and they will tell you the cheapest deal You can set up an energy alert so you get an email when you should switch suppliers The more accurate your readings the better it will be. Ideally you want to know how much energy you actually use in a year Get some up to date readings and see if you have some past ones anywhere Your current supplier may have just up'd the bill as you may have given them a 'winter' reading and they may think you'll use that much every month! Energy companies prefer it if you pay loads too much per month, they will give any over payment back again at some point. I prefer to know how much I use per year and split the cost over 12 months. They always try to up the payments, but id rather owe them money than them owe me.
I was with a few of 'The Big Six' years ago. Ba*tard* always tempted you in with a low monthly direct debit and then, after a couple of months, WHAM they'd hit you with a monthly hike so you'd be paying way over the odds. Then.when you switched, they'd take ages to refund the balance. For instance, I was with nPower about 10 years ago and the wotsits were taking £135.00 a month from me and now I'm paying £74,50!! I've just switched from one of the smaller companies and they refunded my credit balance almost as soon as the final bill was sorted.
Per month mine average out at £51 electric and £73 gas. 4 bedroom detached, reasonable sized house no cavity wall insulation, double glazed windows but draughty doors, thick insulation in the loft and I work at home most of the time. That's with Coop we have led or low energy bulbs throughout and changed the boiler about 3 years ago, occasional use of the tumble dryer. This is quarterly pay as you go as I prefer not to do the direct debit thing and give them utility companies money in advance. I would try a few of them comparison sites as some aren't as independent as you think. The other thing is to look at the rates and if you can knock up a spreadsheet compare the deals that way (just to make sure they aren't being slightly economic with the truth). I'm afraid I'm a bit analytical with this stuff monitoring usage in a spreadsheet, but when we moved here 5 years ago the bills were much larger to the extent I was gobsmacked as to how much we were paying.
I tried comparision sites and npower came up best. 1 year up in July. I'm moving hopefully in around 5 months to a much cheaper area so I may just start over then. Confused with it all. Sent from my SM-A510F using Tapatalk
You don’t have smart meters do you ? Advise is don’t , the hackers are already looking at robbing you blindless!,
I was with BG a while back and in credit one day I received a letter saying I was in credit a cheque for £71 was enclosed. Next day I received another letter advising me they were increasing my DDebit by £30 I phoned them up and asked why as I was in credit but I was advised my DD would not meet the bills no real excuse or reason could be given so I said OK close the account and changed to SSE then paid £80 per month and stayed in credit. Just seemed a way to get extra cash for the share holders.
