empi trigger shifter

  1. Trying to fit one of these with no instructions. Just want to try it out as I have a problem with my gear stick which I can'f fix right now, so I don't need to be told how crap they are - i've already figured that one out!

Any how, I have two rectangular spacer plates - one thin one thick, which do I use?

Can get all gears apart from reverse as I have it now.

    any help appreciated
    :)

  2. I used the thick one on mine.

I won't post the spoiler now though as you asked so nicely ;)

  3. Right according to Empi: If the distance from the top of the socket on the shift rod to the underside of the floor is 1/4" then use the 3/4" spacer. But if the distance from the top of the shift rod socket to the underside of the floor is 3/4" then use the 3/8" spacer.

To obtain reverse properly you may need to file the fixing holes slightly to allow the base to move forward and to the right by a millimetre or so. ( my bit of fiddling about)

just carry 13mm spanner for a week or so whilst it settles in or you'll get stuck

Having read it, it will be of use - read point 2 and 3 on page 2.

  16. I like the one the hayburner girls are sporting.

Anyhow, got the empi working now, works a treat, straight forward gear changes with no sloppy seconds. Always struggled getting straight back into first after having selected reverse

    Not now

  18. i'd used the wrong spacer - when I put the higher one it it worked a treat. I see what you mean about the spring, but this won't load the selector when its in gear will it? I had an extension on my original stick which suited me fine, so this will take some getting used to again as its shorter, but its a much slicker gear change now,
    :)
