  1. hi.
I know this is a regular post. but does anyone have any tips or a guide to fitting an Empi Trigger Shifter for VW T2 type 4 1975?

    cheers

  2. Remove old shifter. Fit rectangular metal plate. Put shifter into 2nd and bolt down. Spend days driving and making slight adjustments to get it to work as well as the old one. ;)

  3. Adjust your handbrake to the regulation six clicks before you start, or you'll never get into 1st with the handbrake on...

And check the 6 handbrake clicks on the hill you have to pull away on as well.
Or hill starts are a panic as you have either first gear or rolling back.....or you sit wearing the clutch bearing with first gear selected before handbrake and then hauling the handbrake on enough.

And when it gets older you may have to make the fixing holes wider to get all the gears with the bolts in the same place.

  5. Check the actual cup on the shift rod under the shifter for excessive wear as for some reason the EMPI shifters seem to have a slightly smaller ball which gives loads more play. Or just stuff loads of aluminium foil into the cup to take up the slack. ;)
