I know there are differing views on these but the position I have my seat in means the long throw of the selector is a pain, so I thought I would try one - £6-50 inc postage on fleabay. 15 mins to fit, including fiddling with the position of the plate to make sure reverse could not be selected when in forward motion !! Have to say its £6.50 well spent, throw is now v.short all gears engage smoothly and I'm not having to change my driving position to select or deselect 4th - which, when living on the Mlavern Hills 4th to 3rd, 3rd to 4th is the regular move !! Worth a try if you are tired with long shift and/or a shortarse like my Mrs! cheers B
Blimey, sounds like an incredible deal in comparison to the amount I've just shelled out for a Gene Berg shifter.
It was one of the first things i fitted when I had the camper, before getting a gear was hit and miss, fitting the quick shift plate made so much difference then after I replaced all of the bushes along the linkage and it was better than my new beetle.
but wot keeps the bush in place i had an idea it would fit round the gear stick ! but wot stops it from moving up and down
I wonder if this would work with me CSP which shortens the throw but uses the original plate, could I get megga short throw
its a van done on a budget dude i changed the bushes that i could get too, and then fitted this shifter plate cheap maybe chinese i guess so but short yes very short i luv cheap thrills oh yes yes! ^-^
If you want a race shift forget it and go spend lots of cash on a expensive shifter. If you want to take a little wear from a 40 year old gear box and linkage and make a dub more drivable there a great bit of kit. They can be a pain to get set right but once there working there a geat bit of kit at sensable money in my mind If you use a cranked gear leaver extention it takes a worn box back to how they left the factory acording to a old bloke i worked with who had owned 9 new bays and T25's as work vans.
I had one, couldn't get it setup right. Removed it and sorted out the gears and put it in a safe place to fit at a later date and now seems to have misplaced the ball.
