emailing the wrong person

  1. I came into work and have been asked to look into an IT issue where I have no idea where the equipment has been installed (the short summary is between the customer and our project manager there is no coordination so some of this info goes missing). I sent a rant email with some disparaging remarks (no swearing) in and unfortunately copied the customer's project manager in who I made the remarks about. Still waiting to see what the fall out might be but anyone else done something similar or worse?

  4. Its worse than that Terrordales, I couldn't remember the guys name so typed in the email field so it filled it in for me as i'd emailed him before - I was just to dumb or half asleep to remember to remove his name before sending, probably the former :-(

Oops I posted in wrong thread was supposed to be in things you don’t hear every day !

  6. Been there. Done that. Once sent an email to a colleague calling my boss a t@sser and of course instead of forwarding the email containing the evidence of tosserness that I was raving about, I hit ‘reply’.
I actually debated hacking into his computer while he was in a meeting.
Luckily he thought it was funny.
I’d apologise but politely stand your ground and say that if he/she doesn’t want people thinking or saying these things about them, they shd get their act together. It was an accident but now they know what people think, they can use it as a positive tool for personal improvement etc etc.
    Then get your coat.

Thankfully I didn't go that far despite feeling that way - as I type I'm on a conference call where the guy I sent it to is one of the participants so I'm waiting to see if its brought up  I'll take you advice on standing my ground and wait and see if i'm looking for a new job shortly :)

I had one of our lads phone up about an issue on site once ...I called the site manager ( owner of the company we were working for ) all the names under the son ( went way over a the top) and told our chap to tell him what I thought ‘ no need’ was the answer ‘ your on hands free and he’s stood next to me’
I was mortified as the chap was actually a very nice bloke ( just incompetent) so I drove straight to site to apologise which he graciously accepted but we never did work for them again ...

I remember getting made up to be in charge of a load of joiners on the new DH&SS ( as was) building in Leeds. One of the lads I had been working with said I had turned into a different person.
As I said to him I was trying to organise 25 of them spread over a huge building. Not easy.
