George Doka was pressed into duty for the annual Elf Day festivities as I alluded to yesterday. The girls donned the stockings, baked the cakes and rattled the buckets. The village was invaded, pubs crashed and they even visited the local children's nursery to check the kids hadn't been too naughty and that the presents on the back of the truck could indeed be delivered to Santa! @Merlin Cat asked me on the phone earlier if there's a link...so here you go Alex, much appreciated xx. https://www.facebook.com/donate/1223068641923966/ Its a condition that affects many of us in some way so if any of you care to contribute then every pound at the moment is appreciated! Thank you...xx
For those of you who would like to contribute but don't do Facebook... https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/shardlow-marina Every single penny is appreciated more than you will ever know
Can I pay direct? Went on the site link and my £20 donation had a £3 increase to “ help out others” or such. Don’t want to appear a Scrooge but want my donation to go to where it was intended . Well done for your efforts
Hi Huyrob, to be honest, that's why I'm reluctant to post the Just Giving link. I'll PM you & I'm sure we can sort something out. Thanks for your support
Done I’ve used Just Giving as opposed to fb as I’m a bit of a fb muppet. brilliant work Mel @MrsBusmonkey and you @theBusmonkey Neil for your advice today. I’m steeling myself to go for it!! X
Just do it Alex! You could always set up a conference call with me and @davidoft when you take off the engine bay lid and we'll give you a double telling off for not doing it sooner xx
Thanks so much Alex. We don't care how we receive it, every single penny is appreciated more than you will ever know. It's a cause so close to many of us, the dressing up becomes less of an effort and more a part of us that just has to be done
I think it's only proper that you share how much your efforts have raised, especially at this time, Christmas approaching and a massive cost of living increase, getting folk to part with money for good causes is tough. I admire your spirit, efforts and kindness.
I'm sure Mel will Paul once she's had a chance to take a breath lol. She also looks after the management of 2 other remote static residential sites and all the daily issues on those. Back in at work today on an 8 day straight stint I think in order to ensure all the staff get their holiday requests and time to do what they need to do before the break. Which is only a couple of days coz of course the marina people need facilities kept open for obvious reasons. They are also running a raffle in the chandlery to support Macmillan. What I will say is that from what I've seen so far that there has been an overwhelming generosity and support from locals and some folk on the forum in, as you rightly say, difficult times. A marina is an odd community. Folk all living in close proximity and aware of their neighbours in ways unlike normal estate life. It sits in a close village as well so is very much part of life for those who don't actually live here. This helps I think because we're all aware of the friend or neighbour that needs or will need help due to dementia, or those that we've lost and actually are loosing to cancer this year. Thank you for your comment, I know that will mean a lot to her x
I absolutely will Paul once we've done the final count. There's a lot of shrapnel to bag up! But as I said last night, we appreciate every single penny. We're also still selling cupcakes and accepting donations for the next few days. Rest assured that every penny raised goes to the Alzheimer's Society. Myself and the girls donated all the decorations, props and prizes, and our boss paid for all the ingredients for the cupcakes that we're selling. Everyone also gave up their own time to bake, wrap boxes and decorate the Elf-mobile Massive thanks once again to everyone who made a donation
I'm delighted to announce that we raised a fantastic £800 from our Elfie efforts this year! Really didn't expect to do so well in the current economic climate so to say we're delighted is a huge understatement. It just goes to show how close the cause is to so many people. A massive thank you to all of you who made a donation ❤️
