Hi Guys I was after some pointers for some electrical issues I have, have spent a small fortune on the camper lately so I will have to resolve my electrical issues myself!! I have a number of small niggles due to the age and state of my wiring. 1 The fuel gauge is very erratic, mostly it shows nothing, then randomly gives a reading and sometimes it bounces wildly back and forth. 2 If I put the right hand indicator on I get interference on the radio, lots of white noise. 3 Also if I press the brake pedal I can hear some static on the radio. Is there a common earth that serves some of these that I could start by investigating?
clean the contacts up on the fuel gauge but it sounds like your sender is wearing out you can buy little boxs that will sort out the radio Check it has a deacent power supply and earth to the radio and clean the earths up and check the aerial ground http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_209859_langId_-1_categoryId_265890
Really appreciate your help, I will do some investigation this weekend. Have to figure out how I get to the fuel tank, believe it or not after having the camper a year I havent come across the fuel tank, Im sure I will locate the sender!
The fuel tank is behind the panel behind the engine. If you have a T1 engine it will need to come out to get to the tank. Make sure you have checked the other contacts and terminals are all clean first
Earth is brown, check and clean the one from the cluster on the dash. Also a bad rear light cluster earth can send stuff on the dash haywire when you use the lights and crackle the radio.
Cheers Zed, haven't managed to get out to the camper this weekend as yet. I also have the remnants of towbar electrics which I'm stripping out
