EGR yes or no

  1. Hi all, I have a US 2ltr FI GD engine as original (as far as I can tell!) but without the CAT. I still have the EGR valve and EGR filter connected and working. My question is have anyone removed the EGR valve and cleaned it or is it worth just blanking it off?
I assume to remove I would blank firstly at the exhaust and secondly after removing the pipe, blank at the EGR valve?
I also have a T4 whereby I cleaned the EGR and it made a lot of difference to the efficiency of the engine. Is this the same with a bay.
I have owned her for 10 years and she runs fine with a mpg average of 22.23

    Thanks for your thoughts

I left mine in never had an issue ran sweeet, the egr on bays is far less complicated than on a modern car so you’re unlikely to see / notice any difference, if you did block it the easiest way is at the inlet manifold, just a little plate would do it

  4. Not so bad on a petrol. On Diesel engines they are the devils work.

  5. If it ain't broke or rusty, leave it. When it rusts a hole through the egr filter then just block off the inlet into the inlet plenum
