  1. Ok ive just started timkering with a BN4 i have purchased off a Rich. Now this is the pic.

this is the first day of eberspecher self class schooling. I have tested the fan, which works. Cant get the glow plug out just yet as my tools are all in the workshop with the bus. The way it is connected inn the picture, something happens. I think it is due to the temperature regulating switch. Now if the switch is attached, nothing happens, but if i fiddle with the switch mech on the underside, the relay buzzes like theres a short or something.

I havent got the fuel pump to hand, think there is one on the van so im going to get that as soon as i get in there on monday. Do i need this to run the whole unit properly or can i just bridge this connnection to complete a circuit?

Anyway, sidetracked a bit there. When the relay buzzes on and off rapidly, there is no fan movement or anything. What would be my first port of call? do you think i should disconnect the wiring, go for a thorough clean up of all contacts and parts then re-assemble and try again?

Im no eberspacher repairer, but i wont be beaten. If another human can do it, so can i.

If you have any constructive help to offer, i am all ears.

    Many thanks.

  2. cheers for the links i appreciate it, but ive got all the manuals at hand. I may be being a bit ambitious trying to get the heater to work with a newer room thermostat. but i will persevere with my tinkering

  3. So if you have the manuals and wiring diagrams it should be simple enough to follow the schematic and test each component in order of logic with a meter. Dirty connections will show up as a high resistance after the component on that circuit. Get some proper contact cleaner and clean it all up anyway. Test the relay and clean up the inside if you can remove the cover. Heater plug is easy to test without removing, just check the resistance with the wire disconnected. 1 wire to the terminal and the other to earth, open circuit means failed plug

  4. Right i am on the hunt for the BN4 pump again while it is on my mind, has anyone got a lead for me to follow or got a pump to sell that is compatible for a BN4?

do you know what it should look like? i have an eber fuel pump somewhere

  6. yes more or less, i was in contact with a fella on vzi forums who was pointing me in the right direction, but when i moved servers for my website, the emails disappeared. Which is helpful. I have a pump here but it is for a different model apparently. But the one for the bn4 looks the same but is a bit shorter in length. If you have a pic that would be awesome.

    Thanks

  11. sounds like youve got your hands full. We are nearing MOT time, we have sorned the past month but eager to get back on the road.
