FOR SALE Early Devon interior 72 got to go!

Discussion in 'Late Bay Parts Classifieds' started by CandyCamper, Feb 11, 2016.

  1. Hi,

I have a full 72 Devon interior up for grabs. Solid wood front and rear bench seats that fold into a bed, wardrobe and top locker. ( edit on closer inspection it's a mix of veneer and solid ).

Cooker unit with sink grill and cool box.

All in good order but the wood has become very dark with age, could benefit in my opinion from a good rub down and re varnish.

Not sure what it's worth but have been advised up to £600

    Is there any interest here?

I shall sort some pictures over the weekend when I have chance to give it all a clean.

  10. As I said I have no idea what it's worth..... that was a figure suggested by someone in the trade.

As you can see it's listed at £25 starting..... what you can't see is the very low reserve.

If there is no interest...... (which the 8 watchers in the last hour would suggest otherwise)..... then I'll take it appart into its component panels and store it in my loft with consideration of using the panels as a pattern for a future hobby project.

Ideally though I want it gone..... and if someone wins it for peanuts it's a seriously good base considering the price of a newly built interior........ even untreated MDF units seem quite pricey.

  13. I've got this type of interior and although not fantastic quality (typical Devon) there aren't that many about.I haven't seen many at all in 17 years of owning mine, probably because they all fell to bits by the early eighties!I missed out on a few over time to replace bits of mine but its amazing how many have been binned because they have been mistaken for home made!!And maybe because as you say they ain't the most practical either....

  14. This one is fairly solid - just looks a little tatty...... I think some tlc with a sander and some varnish would have it looking presentable. Perfectly usable as a day van / occasional camper...... it worked for my family for 20 years that it was actually in use. We just plan on using the van exclusively for camping trips and tucking it up in the heated garage to sleep when not in use..... so practicality for camping is our sharp focus.

  15. I have the exact same interior :) mine's turquoise, but will be getting refinished soon. Mine was only £45, so you're doing well already :)

  16. Surely the hob / grill / sink unit is worth that on its own......

  17. Tigger has exactly the same furniture, right down to the plastic cupboard handles and folding bed boards on the box base. Tigger was laid down art VW in July 1973 and shipped to Devon but not registered until July 1974, so considerably later than CaandyCamper's. Best of luck with the sale!!
