is there a seal between the vehicle body and aerial mount?

  3. yes a black seal. then mount goes through front panel. then star washer and nut then lead has long spring on it which touches aerial mast then lead outer screws onto mount, its wierd..might have to hang the mrs out the window to hold it..to be honest i did think the quality was bit poor but just wondered if any body had similar prob

  4. Yup - similar problem, its a dual mount from JK, and it's 18mths old and going rusty!!! I get radio clear then very muffled then clear again.

I saw some stainless steel ones on ebay but they have been out of stock for some months.

I think status-vw do stainless ones too.

So next move is to replace my ckeapy JK dual mount with a beter quality one.

  5. ive got the stainless version same problem as the mast is stainless but the rest (the spring etc is just cheap metal) ,water just gets in between the mast sections and rusts up the bottom same problem no reception , i have tried all of them from different suppliers but they are all the same ,cost me a fortune in the hope that the next "good quality stainless steel arial" would be better , mine is just for looks now lol

  6. Thanks unicoder70 - you have probably saved me £50 - £60 quid working my way thru the various offerings only to discover thay are all crap.

Problem is tho' .... I've got 2 holes in what was my nice new front clip (well it was new 2 years ago).

Have you left yours in-place and got another different aerial or have you bit the bullet and put some blanking plugs in the holes??

  7. ive just left the arial there just for show as i d had my van painted before i found out the arials are crap lol , otherwise id have welded the holes up :)
