Looking for a drive away awning for camper. Not got any specific make and model in mind, but am open to suggestions.
I fancy one of these as it will keep the wind off, which is more than my omnistor wind-out awning does.... http://www.decathlon.co.uk/living-area-3-m-x-3-m-fresh-id_8295843.html Pal of mine turned up at a camp with one last year...I reckon with a small hole in the roof I can get my frontier woodburner on the go in there too...
Khyam are very good, try and get the quick erect system as opposed to the pole and sleeve type. They can be fixed to the gutter via a 'figure of 8' plastic attachement. If I was buying a new I would go for the new air pump up type but at £700 its not in the budget!
Although the Khyam quick erect awnings are undoubtably good, they're bloody massive when folded down and seriously heavy; not to mention expensive. Theyr're also hardly any quicker to put up if you've any experience with normal tents. If I was starting again (I followed the crowd and bought a Motordome Sleeper) I'd have a long look around at other peoples' before buying one, and go for something lighter weight. The inflatable ones look great, a bloke near us in France last year had one, but they are really pricey.
We have our Royal Traveller awning for sale in the ForSale section. I'm on my phone & can't seem to give you a link, I'll post one later.
H Having had the quick erect ridge dome tent and the pole and sleeve drive-away awning, the quick erect gets my vote as one person can put them up and the pole and sleeve needs two people and a few cans of refreshment after. (any excuse for a beer or two)
The bigger ones (Motordome sleeper etc) still need 2 people ideally to put them up or you risk snapping the poles. Don't get me wrong, they're good, just not as good as people (who have bought one because they were told to) will have you believe.
