Dover Ferry - When to arrive

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by mi2itsdl, Jun 20, 2012.

  1. Do I have to arrive 45mins early for the Ferry at Dover, as per the ticket, or has anyone just rolled up and gone on.
Or even 15mins, before. Just pushed for time on Saturday to get the ferry across to France.

  3. When you turn up they put you on your ferry ,ie the one you have booked , if your early they may put you on an earlier one ,if your late just hope that they have space on a later one if not ??? At this time of year and especially on B/Hols its best to be on schedule or before . ;)

  4. If it says arrive 45 mins before - I'd arrive 1hr before ...

Unlike vw's sometimes being early is better ;) (I jest)

  5. If you arrive early they will normally put you on the next available, so book a bit later than you want if you're cutting it fine.

  6. cheers for the reply's. Off to Chimay in Belgium, for the '1st European Hot Rod & Custom Show'. Should be good.

  7. I know its a bit later but just to add something I crossed Dover Dunkirk, arrived 45 mins before and wasn't a problem. Coming back we arrived well in advance and asked for an earlier ferry, we were booked on the 2200.
The advice given was if you take the 1800 it will cost you an additional £67, but if you wait for the 2000 you can get on with no additional charges, 2 hours wasn't that long to wait and at least I got some extra shuteye and a home brewed cuppa.
The facilities at the Dunkirk terminal are very basic very basic indeed.

  8. Tuesday wildchild

    Tuesday wildchild I'm a circle!

We have due to break down got there and not stopped apart from the booth to get boarding card.

But its best to get there at 30 minutes before I'd say.
