I had the odd one from Dave Eccles book in my cab workshop the other day year - the one with seats on rails and rounded slat shutters on the cabinets. I completed some restoration welding and helped owner paint the cab doors. They took it away to finish it, but it's sat in a shed down the garden ever since - tax free too - I drive past every day on the way to work. Interesting bus.
A dormobil was use in The Italian Job. It wasn't a VW but "Dormobile" name hit mentioned by Mr Caine.
