Door mirror captive nut issue

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Adrian Le Moigne, Mar 24, 2015.

  1. Im just building up my twin slider after resto/respray and have come across a problem with a replacement door, there is no captive nut to mount the mirror. I cant see how i can get to fit a nut behind? Does anyone know what size nut i need and how to overcome this?.....help please

Are you sure? It won't come out, but sometimes carp repro mirrors don't reach it!

  3. Certain its not there. I can see the tabs where it should sit but no nut :(

Too late now and apologies for hindsight, but I always check this sort of stuff well before anything gets painted and that includes having all the doors fitting well. The last thing you want to do is bugger about after it's painted. The nut is really difficult to access, I have no idea what to suggest other than trying to find it and jiggling it in somehow - after all it came out. Maybe someone will cut up a scrap door for you if you can't find it.
