  1. My paerents were payingc £98 per month with virgin media and didnt get HD or sky movies so I moved them to Sky - got the same package for £32 for the 1st 6 months then £62 onwards.
My parents have had various service providers in the past and have had there phone number moved from company to company ,my parents are quite old and have had there number for 60 years but virgin have taken the hump and refused to transfer the number saying they now own it??
Is this true as although theve got over it ,if you were a company and had had that number for years they could literally hold you hostage as they would give them the number back if they moved back to Virgin.
    This doesent sound right?

  2. I dont think virgin can do this, they may try to if your parents have breached a contract. I thought that landlines get the same treatment as mobiles and OFTEL effectively say that providers cannot make it difficult for subscribers to move between providers by not allowing the number to be transferred.
I thought that virgin were cheaper? £98 is expensive for not getting HD or movies ???

  3. Thanks Scote ,just rang OFTEL (OFCOM) who advised that Virgin media cannot do that and the issue would be sky not requesting the number.
