Do you think you will still own your bus in five years time ?

  1. ive owned about 12 buses in the last 6 years. a mix of late and early bays, lately more lates, Ive owned the 79 westy i have for nearly a year, which equals the longest ive owned one, and im hoping to keep this one for a lot lot longer. Its taken me ages to find what works best for me, we had no kids when i bought my first bus, now got 2 5yrs and 7 months, so the westy works great, esp a deluxe with working cooker, sink and a propex. few mod cons thrown in like the stereo and dvd player etc. Its just about to have a full respray and all new rubbers etc, so will be looking good for summer, plus ive got my 61 bug to play with too now 8)

  2. I regret selling my first one back in 98. Took me until 2006 to get the money for another.

My Dad (RIP 2003) loved them and always saw me driving one, said it calmed me down and suited me well. I have promised myself to restore this bay for my old man as I quit on the first one. Silly boy.

Only way I would sell is for a splitty as its my dream vehicle, but otherwise its a keeper and happy to keep it.

  8. Yes, in 5 years all of the parts will have been replaced but registration number will be the same. The youngest is 12 now so in 5 years just me and Sally can go travelling at anytime, not just in school holidays. I've always kept vehicles for years even when I've been tired of them, so cannot imagine selling my buses (unless they become valuable beyond my wildest dreams then i'll cash in).

  10. After all the stress, expense and haste I've had in getting the resto done - definitely!

  11. Had him for 18 years-ish and the one before for a good while too! Pretty attached to this one so guess he'll still be here.

  12. I'd like to think so. We were late starters but hopefully we'll still be enjoying our Bus in 2017. We should be retired by then so we'll to make our pensions stretch! Or live off the kids!!!!!!

  14. Yup definitely! The amount of time, money and effort we have spent on her had paid off in memorable holidays, weekends and new found friends. Its opened a whole new world up to us. Love it :D

  15. Yes indeed part if family now

  16. My family would string me up if I even thought of selling billy the bus. He is a family member, hence the money spent on restro, unrealistice but a matter of the heart not the mind.

I certainly hope so, unless an unmolested panel van comes along & then I may be tempted.

maybe.... i reckon in 5 years it will be just due a light resto and i dunno if i'll be arsed to do it or let someone else have the pleasure..... plus as it stands right now i've no idea how i'm gonna feel in 5 months let alone 5 years!

  20. Silly question, of course :)
