The Corona man? Used to do door to door deliveries of fizzy drinks around where I lived - in glass bottles with money on return. I'm guessing this must have been in the 70s. Cherryade and Cream Soda were the best
Yes ours was the same man who bought Davenports as well, i miss things like that, we had a video van too, now all i get is blokes in transits blowing that stupid horn scrounging scrap.
Yes. And I remember hunting for bottles to take back to the shop to get the money back and then buying blackjacks and fruit salads with it.
When i was at college in the 80's we lived in Sarf London and used the busses a lot. Over the years I observed that sometimes when sitting downstairs you would hear a bottle rolling around on the floor of the top deck. AND IT WAS ALWAYS A LUCOZADE BOTTLE. I checked many times. I had others corroborate my findings and it was true. I wonder what it is now? Would not be the same with plastic bottles I guess.
i remember the corona man! we never got it but my cousin always did and i was always really jealous! i also remember a really skanky old man going round in a van selling bread and sweets, everyone used to buy stuff off him despite his obvious hygene limitations!
I think Corona was 1p return, there was a boozer down the road, we would jump the wall and nick em then take them to the offy and get more pop and sweets, he got wise and bought a big German Sheppard, I miss my childhood. There was also Daila Pop, big thick bottles, think they was a Midland thing. ;D
Yes, we had it.. Loved the Cherryade.. But Corona was just for special occasions... Finding a bottle was like winning the lottery, claiming back the deposit...
i lived on the main road so never had the ice cream van round although we did have a chippie , a chinese , a indian & 3 pubs within 100 yards
