Do you like bagpipes?

    I'll admit not to liking bagpipes till 2012 when we visited Edinburgh & a single bagpipe player made the sound echo round the castle making them sound superb, I was converted!

    Used to love marching behind a pipe band when I was in the army, in Hong Kong in 1981 the Gurkha regiments had a fantastic pipe band. Loved it

    Bagpipes = cat in a microwave. Nothing pleasant about them.

    I also like the Northumbrian Small Pipes & the Uilleann Pipes, maybe I'm just a weird olf folkie though



    but the Highland Pipes are still my favourite

    I prefer the tone of the Uillean pipes....softer and more plaintiff....but then again, they weren't designed to be used to rally soldiers...
