My bus came with 185/60 84H tyres on old 15x5.5 MWS replica Fuchs with ET6 which fit the rear wheel arch with millimetres to spare. The tyres are too small and underrated. The bus has been lowered 1 spline at the back and the equivalent at the front using adjusters. I want correctly rated and sized tyres. I can either get some 15" alloys with a better offset and fit commercial 195/70 or I can go stock. I'm leaning towards stock because I'm a bit of a traditionalist but don't know if that will look bad on a lowered bus. I realise that this may be a question of taste but do stock wheels look OK on a lowered bus?
Steels for the win, smart or ratty. 1 spline down... ...2 splines down. ...and some kind of dark red.
That's 6 votes for and 0 against. I wonder if the result would have been different if I had asked the question on Saturday evening rather than Sunday morning? In 1973 what would have been the colour of the wheels and the style of the hubcaps? It seems you can buy chrome, silver or black steel wheels and either flat or domed hubcaps.
Steels for me as well . I went from 17" alloys with rubber bands: back to lowered stock 14", running stock rear shocks and Spax adjustables on the front: I am running 175s on the front as stock tyres foul the tub. Ride quality is night and day to what I had with the alloys
Saw these wheels on the Samba, a slight twist on the stock steel look. 15" x 7" rims. image by ckandjk, on Flickr I would love a set of these
Even slammed buses look good on original steel wheels. Look at this one (not mine): http://thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/slammed-bay-twin-slider-with-a-difference.2641/
