DIY J-channels

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Adam W, May 25, 2020.

  1. Hello everyone, I’m coming up to doing the roof panels, and I’m going with a full ply headliner. It appears the original J-channels have been removed, as there is a line of the stubs of rivers along the roofline each side.

Has anybody found an aftermarket solution to replace them? I’ve read on one build post that they used edging bead. I’ve found this, which is only 3mm so gets round the issue that someone had on the samba about using 6mm edging and it not holding it as neatly.

Has anyone got any other solutions that they’ve tried?

    cheers!

This is a chromium effect ceramic tile edging bead from B&Q, they have almost endless colours and effects. This one is a prototype as you can see a bit of a dent in it. Got it just right using self tappers then riveted it on for security. One bead each side and the back of the new light fitting is screwed through the centre and the hold it fine.:)

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,, cab ceiling can now slide out if req.:)
