Distributor advance

  1. Hi all - is it possible to test the advance on the dizzy by sucking on the vacuum pipe? I've tried it and sometimes the plate moves and then not. It's a type 4 1800 engine with a standard dizzy and points. It's not starting consistently at present and was trying to find the problem - which might also be the cht sensor as if the engine stops after its run for a few minutes it won't start again - I've checked the plugs and they are wet with fuel? It's a fuel injected motor......is it worth changing the standard dizzy for electronic ignition....?.cheers jason :-

  2. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

It doesn't sound like a distributor problem.
