Digital foot print and personal info - please be sensible

  1. Sorry to be serious on here but as someone who has been a victim of credit card crime in the past, its very easy to find out personal info from forums and social media sites etc etc.

So Birthdays, family member names etc etc location are all easy fodder for these scumbags. Be careful what you post.
I expect your average forum although offering a good degree of security is also quite easy for these sc****s to hack if they really want to.

BE SENSIBLE with the info you post. :)

Stay safe and enjoy your van.

I very much doubt there's anyone on here who has put up enough detail to get their credit card done...

  3. Maybe not but its individual bits of info. Birthday, location, van number plate, family member names, that sort of thing? Its all about gathering little bits of info etc etc

    Tuesday wildchild I'm a circle!

We don't do credit cards but did a couple of weeks ago have the bank texting us the ask if we had been in Sweden the previous week. No we hadn't and also a couple more spends on an online game software site, no again. A total of about £200.

Also now of 2 others in town so must be a cloner in the town.

  5. There are scum. They do this all day long eventually they get bits of info, enough to get past basic security info.

Not convinced but each to their own.
I'd be interested to know what anyone can do with my general location, user name, first name, number plate. I'm guessing nothing.

  7. I don't even know who I am

Well hopefully for you nothing. If someone hacks into this site, takes your email address then hacks into your email I am sure they can follow a digital trail , should they want to and if it was worth their trouble to do so? :)

There are far easier ways than that....
No-one has probably ever put up any payment details into the site so they can't be stored. Addresses aren't on here etc etc
I'm confident enough that no-one will bother hacking a forum for those purposes.

  10. The most important thing is you use a different password for every site and don't make it obvious.
TLB isn't a secure server and everything is being sent in the clear including usernames and passwords.

Don't ever answer security questions with the truth!
I showed a friend how I could access his email by clicking forgot password, searched Facebook for his mothers madden name and The town he was born
