Diesel Eberspacher heater and tank location

  1. Hi all

Hope I'm not going over old ground here. I have a 78 Devon Moonraker with an Eberspacher heater retrofitted in the small gas bottle cupboard. The fuel tank is in the near side of the engine where I want to install a leisure battery.

I'd like to relocate the Eberspacher to the bottom of the wardrobe unit that is directly behind the passenger seat on the Moonraker. I'd like to route the warm air through the floor vent between the cab and the rear. I was also thinking of using a small diesel tank underneath the van, in te same way the (missing) Moonraker water tank was.

    Any suggestions?

[edit]Forgot to mention that I have the side belly pan pieces still welded in place. I imagine the original route from the water filler in the wardrobe to the tank will be easy to reestablish.

    Thanks

    Oli

  2. why dont you fit a small diesel tank behind the seat. between the seat and bulk head.

  3. Really, you can put an Ebers bits wherever you want, as they're pretty self contained. Just remember to angle the fuel pump upwards (about 15 degrees) and use the correct Ebers nylon fuel hose.

A small diesel tank can go wherever you want - the only issue may be smellyness - diesel doesn't evaporate, so could stink the van out if it's inside. There's no fire hazard, as diesel's hard to ignite.
