Did Anyone Go To Busfest?

Discussion in 'Shows Events You've Missed unless you went' started by scoobyblue72, Sep 10, 2012.

  1. Got the 'Scooby Blue' back last Thursday night from Fellows after a top end rebulid and and under rad conversion! Just managed to get a last minute weekend ticket for Busfest. Left Sheffield at 6am Friday to drive to Swindon to pick daughter up, then on to Malvern Show Ground! What a brill weekend... passed loads of campers on the way home, after repeating the same journey..but in reverse...but didn't see another 'Late Bay' forum user anywhere! Did anyone go? ;)

Dubious went and camped with the early guys, posted updates etc live from the event.

  4. I was there in the type25. Great show. Didn't take any piccies unfortunately.

  5. We went and camped with the VWT2OC had a great time, didn't see any other Late bayers but then again could walk past you all and not know, I did how ever see this van.[IMG]

But Dubious wasn't in so couldn't introduce myself.

  6. I used to live in Plymouth, spent most of my childhood there...Peverell! Spent ages walking around the show looking for Late Bay stickers on windows...didn't see anyone! Ended up in T4 and German camping area, because on arrival general camping was in a right mess and stewards couldn't organise it! Never mind, passed a few vans on the way back up North!

  7. I live in Plympton, didn't see much on the road to and from the southwest, sad but I think most of the vw owners in the southwest stay in the southwest and don't like to travel far, pity cos it can be lonely on the A38/M5 at times. :)
this was our base camp in the VWT2OC area

  8. Yea I was there, saw Matty, the wilmas at the dogs and dubs stall.... Had a chat with Vdub Girl too. Had a great time with the early bayers and overall a great time at Busfest....Dr and the Medics were especially good (IMO) and my daughter had her picture taken with all of the band members.

Sorry to those I never got to meet when I was not in (spent a lot of Saturday with a mate from the T5 club)

Awesome weather and even got some sun burn

  9. I was travelling south on the M5 on Friday afternoon (all the way down to Junction 21) and then north again on Sunday afternoon, so I passed a lot of vans on the M5 that were going to/coming from Busfest (I was going for a nice sunny weekend in Weston-Super-Mare myself - much cheaper and much more peaceful). I did notice that despite me waving like a loon, not many other van drivers waved back! Now I can excuse the splitty owners (although some did wave) because most of them are desperately concentrating on keeping their bus in a straight line and not crashing into other road users or crash barriers, and the T4/T5 drivers all seemed to be caning it in the fast lane, but there were still a lot of early/late bays and T25s that we got no waves from at all. :(

Has it got the vibe back that it lost, go on any Vw website and its been slated to death for the last few years, was it the show they were hoping for apart from the nice weather

  12. I'm no expert on shows as I'm new to all this, but must say of the three I've been to this year, Busfest was by far the best to date! PS I did wave to every bus I saw on the road down and back...shouldn't I be waving at Splits? I had two (both the same colour, could have been twins) that tried to burn me off on the M42...they got a shocker when Scooby went up a notch!!!...left them for toast! ;D

  15. Nah, I didn't go, even though I only live 8 miles away. Kind of got bored with it now. Instead, I went for a blast down the M5 to Exeter for a mate's birthday party. Saw lots of buses doing 55 to 60 in the slow lane, on their way to, or coming back from the show. Got waves from every Bay. Probably inquisitive of seeing a Bay in the fast lane, an Audi RS4 and Golf GTi pulled up right alongside me, wound down their windows, stuck their thumbs and egged me to go faster. I always love to see their expression as I floor the accelerator and start pulling away!
