    Hi
Im about to get a pair of these but have a few questions to some of you guys who run them on ur buses..im not sure what to look at when eventally find them what manifolds r best short/offset etc..as far as i ve found out peeps point at csp crank linkage but what else?..type 4 engine maybe 36s would be good?..

    Cheers

There's a few who run with them - hopefully one of them will be along shortly ;)

  3. 40s will be fine, but you'll need to choke them down: 28or 30mm. My manifolds are marked VWP. I've no idea who they are. CSP centre-pull is fine and easy to fit.

  4. Off set manifolds are type 1 , 36 or Dell 40 will work but expect to change jets etc to suit ...you will also find the Dell book superformance helpfull , fuel psi needs to be 3.5 ..ideally manifolds will match so hole size 40mm .....ICT carbs are also worth a look ....

  5. I used a CB performance air filter and manifold kit from cool air, looks like the price has gone up a lot since, was easy to fit and balance although i did have it pro setup on a rolling road after :)

  6. Im runnning a 2 litre type 4 with DRLA 40s. Id recommend it as its the best mod ive made to mine and it rins loverly. Cold starting is a draw back but not that much of an issue. I have a bell crank linkage and would recommend that over a hex bar arrangement given the issues some seem to have. Think my manifolds and linkage were from CB but i bought 2nd hand.

As has been said above the dell book is useful for set up and i havent had many issues although it did run better after being tweeked on the rolling road. Im not running a regulator and have mechanical pump. Venturis are 28s which worked best for me after trying a couple of combinations and its its most driveable with those. Larger vents gives more revs, higher rpm and top end id say but deffo torquier with the smaller ones as i say. Ive no experience of alternative twin carbs im afraid.

  7. Actually think linkages are CSP tbh and not CB...... cant remember.

  8. When you price everything up ... it's a lot of money

..thanks guys..i expect it will cost..years ago i managed to collect dells, cb monifolds and filters i bought in US, even 911 fan shroud..they all were supposed to go in my 1303 cab but had to sell the bug and sold the rest on too..anyways im ready for fun and some expences so im starting to look for some sweet pair of dells and other bits i may need
    Cheers

..hmm..so actually if i go for 36s they would good enough?..confused a little bit here as far as i remember 40s have 32 vents so too big for my needs?..im looking for some torque too as dont like to rev it high..

  11. 36/40 is just the size of the hole at the bottom of the carb barrel. You can change the size of the venturis to suit your engine - the venturis are removable.

^So you need long manifolds and small vents – probably 28mm on a standard 2.0l. No point using big vents because the heads can’t flow as much as the carbs can and for torque you want to keep the gas velocity as high as possible.

..do you have any idea what size vents are originally on 36s?..

  14. No idea...but it doesn't really matter. I'd go for 40s, as you can use them on other stuff later.

  17. Sound advice!

  18. Basically, everything important on the carbs is removable/changeable. The carb body is just a piece of metal that holds everything together...

  19. A 36Dell has a body with a 36mm hole a 40 Dell has a 40mm hole .the physical body is the same size .. manifolds, air filter bases and trumpets all come in different sizes ... a 28 vent is the same in both. Just check all the air bypass screws move ..
