Deceleration valve for '76 2ltr FI engine + hoses and t-pieces

  1. Hello.

Am looking for a deceleration valve for my '76 2 litre FI Westie.

Have just discovered that it's been completely removed from the van I recently got and so am looking to get a replacement.

Ideally would like to get one with all the hoses that go to it = e.g. the host to the air inlet elbow, the hose to the air plenum, and the small hose to the pressure regulator.

I also need both tee pieces that are needed to connect it in - the one that goes in the brake booster to air plenum line, and the one that goes in by the pressure regulator.

If anyone has any of these parts, please could you let me know a price including postage to Oxford.

    Thank you very much.

  2. Bump - someone must have a spare one of these sat around!

    Thanks.

whats a deceleration valve? do you have a part number for it or a picture of one?

  4. Hi David.

I believe it is sometimes referred to as a "Vacuum Limiter" or "Decel Valve".

    Part number: 0-280-160-303

is it the bigger cna thing with the arrows pointing to it, the other smaller one is an idle control valve

  6. Yes, the big thing in the top/centre of the picture.

Am also looking for a replacement auxiliary air valve (idle control valve) as think mine is dodgy - but at least I have one of those - my decel valve is totally missing!

    Thanks.

you can clean the idle control valve out with carb cleaner or thinners, may know someone with a decel valve, will ask him

  8. Thanks - that would be much appreciated.

Will have a go at cleaning my idle control valve out - have got a very rough idle when cold and have read that a sticking one of these could be the issue.

    Thanks again.

  10. Thanks - am trying to rule everything else out first as I really don't want to start having to take injectors out and testing them!

Having said that, I also seem to be running rich and so think I may have to end up testing all of the injectors anyway (

  11. Good luck, anything FI based seems to be like rocking horse do do.

If I get rid of mine for carbs and rip it all out I'll let you know.

  12. Thanks everyone. Good to know you can still buy the hoses new if necessary.

I put a new Cylinder Head Temp sensor (which I think is the temp sensor 2) in on Sunday and it made no difference to my rough idle or running rich.

Think I've decided to bite the bullet and strip my injectors out to send them off for cleaning (worth doing anyway as bet they have never been cleaned!) and will clean out the aux air valve and test it in the freezer while I'm waiting for them to come back.

Any other obvious things that I can check/test while I'm at it that can cause rough idle or running rich? Am pretty sure I have no vacuum leaks, the valve clearances/timing/points are all set correctly, and the resistance testing of the air flow sensor are all within the suggested params. Am trying to knock possibly causes off the list one by one.

If it's any help in giving suggestions, I'm strugging to get it idling at the recommended 850-950rpm - I'm idling slightly fast (around 1000) and my idle screw is turned in all the way and so I can't slow the idle down any more.

    Thanks.

  13. Thanks - hadn't seen that one - that does look a good guide - will work my way through it.

Firstly though have just taken off and checked my Aux Air valve and it appears to be stuck open. Applying power to it doesn't do anything at all - it doesn't take any current - and so that suggests to me something more than just being stuck. Will ask if anyone has a spare one of those laying around.
Have also got the injectors out ready to send off for cleaning - they do look VERY dirty!

Thanks again everyone. Am still looking for a replacement Decel Valve!!

  14. You might wanna go through the trouble shooting guide and if you have no joy have a look round on the samba for more info as the guys over the pond love the FI ;D Make sure you done the tests before you post a problem otherwise they all get a little upset ;D and woe betide you if you haven't got a bentley ;)
