dead battery

  1. Hi Guys
I need some swift advice please. I've just returned from a non-bus holiday and thought I'd take my camper out for a run round etc. The battery is dead and won't even take a charge. What sort and size replacement (where from suggestions) do I need, apart from it being 12v! I have had my doubts about the battery for a bit - it just doesn't look big enough for the job. My bus has the usual 1641cc motor.
Thanks in advance for your help, as you can see, I know bugger all about electrics!!

  2. 063 from Halfords or similar outlets will do.

  3. Lion battery (europarts) several years ago, really good as it cranked my engine over for ages in several french campsites when it wouldn't start.
Worth getting next size that fits.

I recently fitted a Bosch S3 from GSF as this is apparently the correct battery. It is only 41AH and seems small compared with the 062 or 063 (65AH) battery I usually use .

But it can turn over a bus engine for a minute which is long enough to realise there is something not right, stop, fix it and still be able to start the engine.

    mgbman and Valveandy like this.
  5. I have Bosch S3 for main battery and leisure. Both good. I didn't want or need a bigger battery as too heavy to install in the cupboard. Charge your new battery to the max before you install it and keep it charged up. Get a cheap multi meter to test it and the leisure.

  6. @Anthony I bought a cheap one from GSF for £26 delivered. It turned my rebuilt type 4 over no problem
