On the dash of my '73, when I turn on the ignition without starting the van, the oil light and the alt. charge light come on and the gas gauge springs to life. Once the van starts those two lights go out. If you have the head lights on when starting, the high or low beam indicator light will show at the bottom of the dial, once the motor starts.
