Will these fit? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/14098893...RXGH4gQSC6&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Sent from my SM-G981B using Tapatalk
If they're the same as a manual then get the T3 GKN Lobro ones from Brickwerks, they're the best around at the moment, or they were. Don't get the JK ones.
Thing is I already bought the boots bolts washers all I need is the cv joint Sent from my SM-G981B using Tapatalk
This is a normal drive shaft. Had mine fitted 6 years I think. I bought cv joints. They don't seem to do them now. Van I sold bloke is running a Subaru and no issues. Same joints shafts are https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/17173922...7MIkUWHTlS&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
I was told automatics have longer drive shafts. I've no idea if that's true or not. Sent from my SM-G981B using Tapatalk
Ripped off the Samba Manual Transmission Drive Shaft (both left & right-hand sides) – length = 476 mm (VW part No. 211 501 211) Automatic Transmission Drive Shaft (left-hand side) – length = 457 mm (VW part No. 211 501 211 B left) Drive Shaft (right-hand side) – length = 505 mm (VW part No. 211 501 211 B right) The driveshafts for the automatic, are also said to have a ridge around the middle somewhere. @iblaze I got my GKN Lobro ones from GSF during one of their 41% off sales. They have been on since 2017. I haven't noticed any issues, but I'd be lying if I said I'd inspected them properly recently
I think my bus had similar replacement complete driveshafts on it. Was OK until I went to change the CV joints - on that particular type (??Porsche 966) the splines were different to the Bay Window ones.
I've ordered some from here doesn't say what they are they arrive tomorrow. Sent from my SM-G981B using Tapatalk
At least you can be confident they’re the right ones for an auto. I imagine they would be hard to find ? Stirlingmoz
New cv joint kits arrived today. First impressions, they look really good. Time will tell, I suppose. I managed to reuse two of the originals as they were in great condition. I've noticed all the new kits don't have the serrated washers, and the retaining plates are smooth, not like the original ones debating whether or not to use the old ones what do you guys think? You do need new Schnorr washers every time. A bag of 50 is cheap on fleabay, then you've got a spare set for next time.
Thing is I see where the washers would grip on the old clips but I don't think they would have the same effect on the smooth ones what do you think I can't even remember using any when i did the bus 4 years ago. Sent from my SM-G981B using Tapatalk
You can’t always use the plates on different cv makes as they are shaped differently, try one , you see, they will distort the boot
