So I need a new CV joint and gaiter. Genuine stuff is so expensive and being skint after Christmas .... £35 per genuine gaiter !!!!! And more for the cv joint . These must surely be the same as some other Audi ,vw ,BMW ,seat . Joint ,gaiter that doesn't add the scene tax ??? vw heritage is cheaper than cool air even with the 10% off for a genuine gaiter meryle do a gaiter for a tender but are they crap ? Also what are the repro cv joints like ?
go for genuine mate. i had 2 sets on in space of 2 years. got some genuine from vw heritage. yes they more expensive but should last a damn site longer. its a thankless task fitting em so i would recommend genuine....save yourself the repeated hassle. and cv boot grease finger nails... ;D
oh sorry forgot, cant comment on the cv joint as mine were ok.. so just changed the boots..several times....when it comes to rubber of any kind on the bus i gonna go for genuine...dont get me started about ball joint covers.
Hmmm ... just look for dearer option ? always been a guide to fine kit that one ? anyhow, me done c.v. joint purchased from gfs earlier this year, " low powered" vehicle, they do not get a "beating " purchased the c.v. boot kit and a bargain basement c.v.joint , so far all well , only my opinion /experience mate but! wiv kit(u can buy seperately)u get new securing bolts and spreaders ! also grease with kit is slightly less ! so ! ...> in my kit i never got the serated washers (annoying !) , anyhow cost approx £30 done.AND at 50kms and 100kms rechecked bolts for security of fittingnote >new securing bolts may have diff, head on re tool needed !
Just to ask (not a hijack as such) am i right to think auto ones are different lengths than manual? mine need new rubbers but i noticed at the weekend they click when i reverse round a corner so i'm guessing they are on the way out.
local garage that changed one on my daily Audi thought i was mad for opting for the £20 Audi one and not the £5 pattern one ! I think £35 for a genuine vw gaiter one is steep .......
