Hi all Bus has been running fantastic for months been to Cornwall lands end a whole lot of places. But today on our way from Skelmersdale to Holyhead Anglesey she's cutting out every time I come to a junction sometimes even just changing down to 2nd I have noticed the rev counter needle is wangling side to side in 4th gear don't know if it's related or not. What should I check? Last time the carb was loose but I've checked that and it OK 1641cc type 1 Cheers Ian Sent from my SM-G981B using Tapatalk
First thing I’d check is timing. Mine did this, but all else usual stuff was ok. So for me balancing both carbs with a snail and then ensuring idle speed was 900rpm with a tacho (not a Mexican crisp) did it
If its not a shutoff solenoid, then its likely the idle jet itself is blocked. Next time an Angolan offers you some petrol in a 5 litre plastic bottle on a wheelbarrow, dont buy it.. Dont touch the timing. And it wont be the coil. If you have Pertronix, Accuspark etc. it could be a hot electronic module. If its the idle jet, a crappy get you home is to pull the wire off the choke, so the choke is always on at idle sucking fuel from the main jet (and idle jet) instead of just the idle jet. It will get sooty exhaust, but because the way the carburettor is designed, if you rev the engine the choke is disabled.
That sounds like lorry drivers lemonade, never buy it - it's free for anyone brave enough to retrieve it from the central reservation.
If you wanted to watch satellite TV in the shanty town beside Luanda, you would need some juice for the generator..
We managed to get home ok. I did take the wire off the choke but it didn't make any difference. I'll take the carb off tomorrow and see if anything is blocked blow the idle screw through. Sent from my SM-G981B using Tapatalk
Do the Type 1s have a balance pipe or some kind of take off to brake servo? If so I'd check that for vacuum leak. In fact I'd check all vacuums for a leak.
No mate I've no balance pipe single Solex pict 34 I've no brake servo either. Sent from my SM-G981B using Tapatalk
