Crying at work? Blame Radio 2!

  1. i'm afraid i'm not really into songs from the shows. musical theatre and the faux, nasal american accents leave me reaching for the knives! I like a good theatre production, even with songs, but.... and don't get me started on the am-drammers leaving their messages in ridiculous accents and bum notes!:mad:

ken bruce and bob harris are fab. i often miss wogan too :( Evans?..... *subterranean growl*

Ah dear Tel, I do miss him.
Now his final show, that did make me sniffle a tad. I was supposed to be out in my work truck, delivering peoples trees to them.... I had to sit in a lay-by and listened to the final hour as I couldn’t see to drive! .....so if anyone on here got their flowering crabapples and ornamental pears late on that day, I humbly apologise!

Yep, those “break a leg” messages get on my thruppennies as well. We were at Matilda the Musical at the Birmingham Hipp last week. It was totally brilliant. Great songs ( well it’s written by Tim Minchin so they were bound to be ) and great performances. I do like musicals, I don’t mind admitting :D

  6. i like the live MT professional productions, and matilda is fab:thumbsup: but it's the am-dram or songs out of context (ie sunday afternoon) that get my goat. I am proud to say that i've never seen an episode of the american musical theatre programme thing.... but sadly had to endure a reliving of it most days in a performing arts department! *dies* :D

  9. They did. As a young lass, my mum used to work as a nursing auxiliary. One of her jobs was to wheel various severed limbs and body parts down to the incinerator, which she did without complaint or drama. I like people like that.

  10. I’d like to ‘like’ that but it seems wholly inappropriate.

  13. Have a like - she deserved it I think. She pegged out at 93 last year. Talking to the palliative care nurse, she reckoned that, after an operation, that generation would be up and about long before today’s whinging snowflakes. They just got on with stuff, no fuss.

I shall be down your way beginning of October. Would it be safe to pop by for a cup of tea? Should I bring my motorcycle gear? :)

Ps I haven’t forgotten your quote on the other thread!

No doubt this would be banned these days by some snowflake for being hurtful to gender neutral children and non inclusive....

It's also being read out by someone pale, stale and male.

In a few years time I suspect there will be a campaign to rename Wogan house because if it.
