Hey there. I have an early 72 uk panel van with a knackered indicator switch. My van has 7 wires going into the stalk but all the wiring diagrams I see for a uk 72 have 5. Does anyone have a decent diagram that explains what each wire does?? I have Grey Grey/black Brown Brown/white Green/black Black/white (a) Black/White (b)
6 wires. One is a link on the back of the switch. Same as all the wiring diagrams, I don't know where you're seeing 5? https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/wiring/bus_1972_TurnSignals.jpg
Beg your pardon. The colours don't match up either? I think you have an aftermarket switch, you might find one of the wires is unused if you look where the switch loom connects to the van loom under the dash.
The grey wires are for either side parking lights. Not fitted to most UK models, just leave them disconnected.
Possibly an American spec stalk or van, the indicators are operated separately front back left right , you can lose a couple of wires by joining both left and both right indicators.
