Courtesy light wiring

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Foxy, Jan 2, 2012.

  1. Is there anyone out there that would be prepared, when next out in their bus, to pop their courtesy light out and take a picture of the wiring set up (the light in the cab that is). Its just that I have more wires than terminals and a little confused about it.

    Cheers

What colour wires are up there?? You may find your living area light is wired from that circuit.

  3. Yeah they are wired together. I've got wires that link the two together, a feed from the battery, wires from the switches from the doors etc but there is one too many wires than there are terminal connectors.

Why don't YOU take a pic of YOURS and post it.:)

  5. That I will, but I have no way of getting my pics off my camera and onto my iPad. I can only upload pics in the office.

  6.
  7. i'd take a pic of mine but it wouldn't help as it looks like a vipers nest. I think they are all brown on mine, and yes, lots of wires - one of mine had broken off where it was 2 wires on one terminal. Try mixing them up and see what happens. Worse you can do is blow a fuse.

Or set fire to your roof
    :)

  8. i will take a photo of mine this afto for you roof linner is out and van is totaly stock so will give you a good idea :D but it's simples really red to on end of interior light and brown/white to one side of switch and solid brown to other side of switch

  9. Cheers guys. Sounds like maybe one of the wires should have been doubled up but has snapped off as suggested which is why it doesn't add up, plus it's been played around with before as well. I'll have a tinker about and see what happens. Picture would be much appreciated deluxe if you can but no bother if you can't.

  10. best I could do at short notice

  11. You are a star, K+ to you. it all makes sense now.

  12. here we go as promised a photo with liner out

wire 1 on left earth (you can just see it screwed to roof frame in photo)

wire2 in middle red wire from fuse box and on to rear (load area) light

wire's 3 on right these are from you pin switches, one from drivers door and one from the sliding door (extra wires linked in with plastic connectors are for my extra door as my van is a twin slider)
