Clutch sizing

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by alpha981, Feb 11, 2013.

  1. My engine is an 1800 mated to the original (2 litre) gearbox - hence, I've measured the clutch diameter at 225mm - when it should only be 215mm. Now, I'm changing the clutch while the engine is in bits - should I replace with a 215 kit - is the diameter difference just down to the extra HP from the 2000 unit or is there something im missing?

    thanks one and all...

Stick with the right clutch for the flywheel which sounds like it's 228mm. Yes, bigger clutch for more power, but still as easy to operate.

  3. Thanks Zed - I assume when the engine was swapped out by a PO they popped the old flywheel on it

Probably so they could also reuse the clutch. ;)
