Clutch cable conduit - anything special?

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by secondtimearound, Jul 15, 2016.

  1. Afternoon!

Whilst tinkering with the engine out, I've noticed the clutch conduit ( the long metal one the length of the van) is pretty manky and a bracket welded on to the 'axle' ( not sure what it's called) at the back has rotted and snapped off.

Is it anything other than a piece of metal tube I can replace, or is is something fancy?

    Thanks for your help!

It's just a metal tube. I replaced both brake cable guide tubes on ours so it'd be a similar job of unpicking the tack welds and threading another piece through.
I fitted stainless so I shouldn't have to replace it ever again.

I can't remember if one end of the clutch cable tube is slightly flared. The brake cable guides were and I replicated that by using a suitably sized hammer from my panel beating set (there's a pic somewhere in my resto thread).

[edit] @secondtimearound there is a flared end near the cab on this tube too.
