  1. Hello last time I was in the van there was a clicking noise coming from the rear drivers wheel . I'm thinking it's the CV joint is this right . What damage will this do if I still drive it
    Thanks Simon

Grasp the shaft firmly and move in and out..that should re',distribute the grease......take for a test drive...good chance noise will have gone.

  8. To answer your second question if it is a CV joint you won't do any damage to anything else by driving it, but you should sort it sooner rather than later.

You jus found the spare key under the hubcap ?

Do the grease massage. If this splits the boot, you might as well replace the CV joints too..
You could swap the left and right driveshafts but again you might as well replace the CV joints while you are at it.....

  10. Thanks for the reply . I did the squeeze and it worked it stopped the click . Now when I did the squeeze test on the boots it seems as there is not much grease in there . Now can I fill these with out replacing the boots . The boots are all og ones and not split so don't want to replace . Any help would be great
    Thanks Simon

  11. The old used grease is foul, it's a horrible job. Could you buy new bolts and clips, clean refill and reassemble? If the boots are good, given quality reported on here, you should easily be able to re-use the boots.

  12. It’s only the CV joints that are greased. The boots are empty.

The answer is yes you can top up the molybdenum sulphide grease.
Tins of this can be bought for a few pounds .
Go on eBay for a bag of 25 fresh bolts and a bag of 25 Schnorr washers. ( then you have one spare)

    Torque up properly afterwards.

My experience of torquing these correctly is wow that can't be right, I'll give it at least double that. I'm not saying that's right but it's done no harm.

  15. Torque settings only really apply on new applications

  16. All the CV kits I looked at supplied new bolts, I wouldn't reuse these bolts unless it was a, just get me home situation, they're cheap enough and the new ones are 12 spline, less chance of rounding off than the older hex key version. If the boots are fine, then as suggested get some new bolts and a tub of grease and refit.
