Clear Rear Lense

  1. I've got Clear-Red-Clear rear lenses but they've gone brittle, not original, liked the look.

Does anyone sell longer lasting or are they all pants, apart from original ones.

Ebay has 2 for £22, bargain, good for a couple of years.

Don’t they buff up with brasso?

  4. I think they use rather crappy pigments and UV light kills them.

I know with the normal coloured lenses, the £8 ones fade away very quickly and the German £38 ones keep their pigments.. I have been through about 5 pairs of the cheap ones, then I forked out for the German type a few years ago.. and they seem to work out cheaper...

Especially as one of my Hellas was a fiver because it had a crack and some numpty had painted over the reversing light filter on the inside.. took a lot of work with a small flat blade screwdriver to pick the paint off. Slough Swapmeet for the win.

  6. I’ve got a selection of repro ones in the garage, all of them seem to fade pretty quickly.

I bought some og ‘70s original hella lenses a couple of years ago, they have some patina / light crazing but tbh that suits my bus. Have a look on thesamba - there are normally some good original ones on there, shipping isn’t bad as they are light.

  7. Shine up your buttons with brasso, it's only 2 shellings a can. You can but or nick it a woolworths.

There is another brand, SWF as well as Hella that seems to be good. I will check mine.. 20230409_080052.jpg 20230409_080039.jpg
The Hella has faded a little...
