Cleaning up a door lock barrel

    What's the best way to clean up a door lock barrel, mine is all oxidized.

  2. Try dropping in a glass of coke , then dry with a hair dryer !

  3. I have literally just done mine with brake cleaner and some cillit bang o_O

    Then a bit of wd40 and it looked as good as new' took me ten minutes.

    Keep the key in so when it gets clean it doesn't fall apart.
     
  4. Small wire brush will deal with that.

  6. What grease did you use when refitted?
     
  7. Vinegar or as said above coke to clean, Morris multi purpose grease should do just fine
     
  8. Graphite lock lube. Grease will bung it up.

    The graphite stuff isn't sticky. Greases all tend to be sticky and get stickier with age and will collect crud so don't bother. Totally dry is almost better than old grease. White grease just starts white until it gets cruddy.

  11. I use a pencil sharpener and lead in me pencil. Don't need no inflatable, blow up things me. Oops wrong thread!
