I’m in the process of repainting my bus and would like to freshen up the inside of the rear vents, there’s a fair bit of surface rust I’d like to address and paint the area if possible. My arms are too short to reach up from the engine bay and my hands are too big to go through the slats. Any tips on accessing the area?
Sticks with sanding pads attached was one solution I saw and then they masked up the vent and fins and sprayed through the gaps. Best I could come up with too. I did hear someone sandblasted through the vent and hoovered up the shot later but I didn’t have a sandblaster!
I extended a flexi shaft for a dremmel clone and used scotch brite wheels Then followed up with scotch brite pads attached to a long handled aquarium glass cleaner. I masked the ribs of the vents up to make cleaning up the excess paint easier afterwards. I primed and painted with rattle cans
I bought a bag of little wire wheels and stuck them on a Dremel extension, attached a dowel to the extension tip to guide it into the corners.
I went the other way because of the rust on the inner side of the outer panel (fire damaged) Then cleaned up and sprayed the edges through the vents
