Cleaning/flushing cold engine while replacing barrels

    It's exactly the same kit as was on the engine .. melted a piston and the top of a different cylinder had a spark plug thread crack that was leaking gases.

    Pre timed distributor done with a faulty timing light, sticking power valve in a progressive carburettor , garage who I trusted to change the fuel tank managed to leave the ends of the engine bay foam pointing into the fan. CHTs hit 180C when I am concerned about 132C
     
  2. 1700 is a type 4, I guess. Never taken 1 apart that the cam bearings and cam were not scrap.

    If one of mine let go I'd need a pair and the only option I can find are just over $2,000 a pair + import taxes and postage.

    ...and just over $1,000 + tax and post for the B&Ps, so about $3,100 + tax and post for a basic top end rebuild "kit".
