Hey that area is ok, maybe a bit hectic but I've never felt unsafe when I've been there. To see it in a better light come out of the station on the St John's Hill side. Turn left to the crossroads and then right onto St John's Road and wall up it to the next crossroads - less than 10 mins walk. Cross straight over into North cote Road and take a walk along. If you've visited it in the 80 's you will remember it as tatty, smelling of cabbages and full of fruit and veg stalls and debris lining the side of the road. Today you will find it full of smart shops, trendy wine bars and restaurants. Any stalls you find will be offering you lovely olives and gorgeous fresh bread. It's now a sought after address. If you've time check it out.
