in our continual quest for all things westfalia! We are now looking for the strip light that resides above the kitchen area in our lovely camper. Now I know this is going to be one of those rare items that doesn't exist anymore like the famous yellow bucket, but thought I'd ask before we go down the the route of something similar! Will hopefully be at dubfreeze next month..
i ditched my og westy light - had a crack in it and it got very hot.. i know some folks on thesamba have replaced their bulbs with led and kept the original westy lens which looks like a good idea but beyond my capability (plus mine was bust anyway). i found a brand new led light that looked close enough to the westy original: Labcraft LED Trilight vs. OE Hella fluorescent Westfalia interior light. by Rob E, on Flickr Dec 2015 by Rob E, on Flickr led = lower drain on the battery and it doesn't get hot
I doubt if they’re rare, I have one if 21Window doesn’t – but I won’t be at dubfreeze next month. I have the rear ashtray too if you want one of those.
I saw these on Volkszone, Any good ? http://www.volkszone.com/VZi/showthread.php?t=1551882&page=2 interior light £5 each
Looks good @rob.e might have to go that route! I also noticed from your photo's that you have (I think!) made up new curtain covers or pelmets and headliner. They look really good! Did you use the original white and black edging or is it new if so where did you source it please?
@Skyelectrix managed to re-use the original, it was minging and smoke damaged but cleaned up ok with some scrubbing
Mine is/was a Helsinki and the ashtray was above the armrest, just visible in the pic. (not my bus but same layout).
