  1. What's the easiest way to check the spare engine i've bought is a 1600? does bore diameter give it away, if so what diameter should it be?

  3. i've just seen 85.5mm bore on JK's website so that sounds about right

  4. yes, 85.5 for 1600
    83mm for 1500

what letters does the number on the front alternator mount start with? that will give you a clue without tearing it apart.

  5. I bought it knowing it was a 'T' code type 3 1600 engine, that said I've not checked it in the daylight yet to verify this. It's a fair assumption that it's 1600, but anything could be fitted to a 40 year old engine!
