Cheap metal stuff - buy now, or it gets weighed in

  1. I have some stuff accumulating from repairs I've done to the van. It's all still useable, and someone with a welder will be able to make use of it. If no-one wants it, then I'm just going to weigh it in at the local scrapyard because I'm sick of it cluttering up the garage, and my bus can't get back in the garage at the moment.

The only proviso is that you have to come and get it, or if it can be passed on via others in some Late Bay relay race to get it to you, I'm also willing to help out with that too.

    Here's what I've got:

    1) 76 onwards engine lid with catch. Yours for a tenner. Removed from my van because mine's a 73, and so it's wrong, and it's rusting at the bottom edge. Can be fixed by someone who can weld.

    2) LHD sliding door, EARLY style which has lock in handle. Yours for 25 quid. Removed from the offside of my UK spec twin slider. No brackets, no mechanisms, handle or lock, just a bare door. Needs a bit of work on the bottom edge and the area where the bottom bracket attaches, but no problem for someone who can weld. I can't, so I replaced it with a dry-state import door that cost about 6 times as much as I want for this. Or, ideal donor for parts to fix your door, or window apertures, because the window frame is nice and solid. The "deluxe" trim on it isn't real, it's a LIDL special.

    3) 3 rib 1600 gearbox. Covered in years of muck and grime, but has always worked fine for me. Whines a bit in second and third, BUT it has always done that, and I've owned the van for 5 years, and it's never let me down. I changed the oil on this a couple of years ago too. No pictures of this one yet, because it's still down at the garage that removed it for me. Only removed to swap for a 6-rib 091. Again, yours for 25 quid.

As I said, I want this stuff gone, as I have no room to store it, and lots of light-fingered pikeys around here. If no-one goes for it, then I'll just weight them in, but I thought they might come in useful to help bring another late bay back to life.

Location: North Birmingham, VERY close to Junction 6 (spaghetti junction).
